Beyond the Surface: The Complexities of LinkedIn and Social Media

In the digital age, platforms like LinkedIn have revolutionized the way we connect professionally. However, as we navigate through endless streams of updates, achievements, and success stories, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information—much of which may not align with our interests.

For many, including myself, this constant barrage of content can lead to a phenomenon known as “information fatigue”. It’s not just the quantity but the nature of the content that can be exhausting.

Social media often portrays a highlight reel of life, showcasing only the peaks and rarely the valleys. This selective sharing can skew our perception, making us wonder if we’re the only ones experiencing challenges or setbacks.

In the past few years , I’ve observed that behind the superficial and perfection, there’s a universal truth: everyone has their struggles. Whether it’s homesickness, the pressure of building a career in a non-native language, or the competitive spirit that pervades professional environments, these are experiences many of us share.

My passion for diving offers a respite from these pressures. Underwater, I find a connection with nature that requires no explanation, no social media updates, and no validation from others. It’s a pure experience that serves as a reminder of what truly matters.

Professionally, I cherish the opportunity to work with diverse partners across the globe. These interactions are not just transactions; they’re meaningful conversations that contribute to a larger purpose. It’s this aspect of my job that I love, and it’s what keeps me engaged in my career.

As I reflect on my journey, I’ve decided to step back from the role of a social media content creator. Instead, I’ll focus on blogging and sharing life experiences that resonate more authentically with who I am and what I value. And as I work on my second book, which delves into the good and bad sides of social media, I send out love and best wishes to all the social media gurus pursuing their paths.

In closing, let’s not forget the importance of prioritizing ourselves and our close circles. It’s in the genuine, heartfelt connections that we find our greatest joys and learnings.
